“ In 1968 I ran into Steve Lacy on the street in Rome. I took out my pocket tape recorder and asked him to describe in fifteen seconds the difference between composition and improvisation. He answered: ‘In fifteen seconds, the difference between composition and improvisation is that in composition you have all the time you want to decide what to say in fifteen seconds, while in improvisation you have fifteen seconds.’ His answer lasted exactly fifteen seconds. ”

Faux Fix, The War [early version]

Just a little taste of the upcoming phenomenal goodness that is Faux Fix. I highly recommend taking a small pause from your tumbling, putting on your best headphones, leaning back and pressing play on this thing.

This is currently my favorite song. Period.

A roommate of mine from college shares about an historic cornet that he was borrowing.

aaespo:

This cornet dates back to about 1875, and it was one of Jules Levy’s personal horns.

I borrowed it for a historical concert, and immediately upon playing it wished it belonged to me.  Such a beautiful instrument.

I meant to capture the sound a little better, but alas, a photo booth video made on the fly will have to suffice.

Finally, Hipsters, whatever things are kitsch, whatever things are novel, whatever things are old, whatever things are vintage, whatever is of unique interest, if there is any irony, if there is anything obscure—pay too much for these things.

I usually draw in small 3.5 x 5.5 inch Moleskines.  Somebody once asked me, “How can you draw so many small bricks without getting really bored?”
I can’t.  Drawing lots of small bricks is boring as shit.
